Let's Give Thanks

Since this is Thanksgiving Day, if you're just dropping in between all the family, food, football, and fun, please, instead of commenting on the issues facing Bellevue, use this thread to tell how God has blessed you and what you're thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving!

So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations. Psalm 79:13

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. I Thessalonians 5:18

Thank You, heavenly Father, for giving us You, Your love, and our daily lives. Thank you for family and friends, for the freedoms we so quickly take for granted, and for the grace you show us by letting us wake up every morning.

Please be with us Father, grant us a special measure of Your Spirit today and all through this time - and thank You that you WILL CONTINUE the good work you have begun in us through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

Thanks for this blog, been keeping up with it and this is a great idea for Thanksgiving. We all have SO much to be thankful for!

Colossians 1:3-6

"We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all the saints— the faith and love that spring from the hope that is stored up for you in heaven and that you have already heard about in the word of truth, the gospel that has come to you. All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and understood God's grace in all its truth."

This was my blog post just before Thanksgiving last year. I think it still rings true for me a year later. May each of you and yours be greatly blessed today and every day.

11/23/2005 - Well....it's Thanksgiving

Man...i just got back from the grocery and boy was it packed. Of course when you wait till the last minute to shop for the holiday..what can you expect. I guess there's probably more weight gained from Thanksgiving through New Year's day, than any single period of time throughout the year. At least that would be my guess, judging from the loaded baskets in the checkout line...mine included. I was thinking as i stood in line....how blessed we are to live in this country. We not only are blessed with ENOUGH to eat....but an OVERabundance. In fact i would imagine that enough food is thrown out every day in America to feed a third world country. We Americans...and sadly even those of us in the church, sometimes take for granted the bounty that we've been blessed with. I pray that God would remind us this Thanksgiving that it is by His hand we enjoy these things...not because we deserve them...but because HE is good.
Speaking of things to be thankful for....a blog would not be sufficient space to record them all..but here's a few things i'm grateful to God for....a salvation that is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, to God's glory alone. My daughter, my mother, the freedom to assemble for worship, more than enough food to eat, the health and stamina to work, an education, friends, brothers and sisters in Christ, transportation, a roof over my head, clothes to wear, the air that i breath (i couldn't draw my next breath unless God ordained it so), the beauty, wonder and awe-inspiring intricacy of His creation.....on and on and on.......see?....not enough space...or words.
