Petitions

Two petitions concerning the leadership at Bellevue are now online.

The first is the
Postpone the Ordination of David Coombs petition which many of you have already signed. The ordination is scheduled for this Sunday, February 25th, so don't delay.

The second is entitled
Should They Go?.

Please stop by and sign both petitions if you haven't already.

Carol Pemberton has written another fine letter regarding the situation at Bellevue.

realitycheck says...You are correct. There are those aware of this but have yet to come forth. He was also fed misinformation by those directly responsible to him. All of this has been and will continue to be rationalized away by some. The truth has been communicated by a few but rejected by those responsible. The events over the past months are examples of unintended consequences (unintended by the ones covering truth with something to hide). It is amazing isn’t it? One bad decision leads to another and another. Each bad decision leads to more unintended consequences.

Since SG is causing so much disunity and division...he absolutely must take his own advice and leave. We were unified until he got here.

reality check,
They are storing up for the day of wrath.

If I am not mistaken, did Steve Gaines just call us all "lost"?

If he did, somebody better tell Jesus that my salvation is not real, cause I trusted Him for it - and He died for it...

socwork said...

Ok, I need an update from those watching online... he asked for those in favor, but not those opposed??

socwork said...

Also, was the sermon the same one as the notes that were posted earlier this week (about attacking the Holy Spirit?)

socwork said...

mom4, seriously? lost?

*deep sigh*

mspinson said...

I did'nt take it that you were lost just disgruntal and better beware of disregarding the Holy Spirt...He was speaking to ya'll though. It is sad Mr Coombs maybe be called but this could have waited.

MOM4 said...

socwork,
I did not watch all of the sermon, but I believe the outline was the same or very similar. We are apparently offending the Holy Spirit because we are lost and the things of the Spirit are foolishness to us.
I assume that since he is so very spirit filled, he would know.
I wonder what spirit allowed him to keep a pedophile on staff all those months and never ever raised one red flag?

all2jesus said...

Piglet,

You called it. The message was unity at all costs, as you put it, "God hates dissenters." Apparently Steve believes it is better to be united in error than divided by truth. Was the Apostle Paul of this mind?

1 Cor. 1-3
It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that does not occur even among pagans: A man has his father's wife. And you are proud! Shouldn't you rather have been filled with grief and have put out of your fellowship the man who did this? Even though I am not physically present, I am with you in spirit. And I have already passed judgment on the one who did this, just as if I were present.

Come now, Paul, isn't that divisive? Can't we just get along?

Apparently Dr. Gaines thinks no one should ever raise the alarm. They should remain asleep, no matter what danger looms on the horizon.

Ezekiel 33:1-6
The word of the LORD came to me: "Son of man, speak to your countrymen and say to them: 'When I bring the sword against a land, and the people of the land choose one of their men and make him their watchman, and he sees the sword coming against the land and blows the trumpet to warn the people, then if anyone hears the trumpet but does not take warning and the sword comes and takes his life, his blood will be on his own head. Since he heard the sound of the trumpet but did not take warning, his blood will be on his own head. If he had taken warning, he would have saved himself. But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes the life of one of them, that man will be taken away because of his sin, but I will hold the watchman accountable for his blood.'

When sin has entered the camp and no one sounds the alarm, even though they know something is not right, they are fully answerable to God.

Lord help us to overcome the cloud of great spiritual darkness over Bellevue and give us the victory in the heavenly places. Amen.

mom and soc,

As I listened to him, it occurred to me that EVERYTHING he said to us, he should have been looking in a mirror and saying to himself.

SIGH.

MOM4 said...

mpinson,
I think I understood that he was talking to us about ignoring the Holy Spirit, but when he got to the very end, his last words were that it was because we were lost. I may have misunderstood his context, so please if anyone else out there can put it in order for me, please do.

mspinson said...

Oh my I did'nt hear that...I'll keep ya'll in my prayers..I truly hope all is well soon. Off to Lurk Land!

sickofthelies said...

all2jesus,

very good points!!! It is so very clear, yet, why is it that "they" don't see it? It is laid out in black and white in the Bible, in those verses that you just posted.

Why don't they see it? Why are WE the bad guys? Why are they behaving this way? What is their motivation?

Sorry for the rhetorical questions.

After they ordained DC tonight, is there really anything left worth saving?

allofgrace said...

Why listen to such nonsense? No way I was going there to listen to that.

MOM4 said...

SOTL,
That was exactly what I became aware of during his speech. (I cannot call it a sermon, I don't think it was actually "inspired".

mspinson said...

That answer is Yes!!!!

socwork said...

mom4,

I agree... whatever spirit led him to keep silent about a pedophile, it sure wasn't the Holy Spirit.

Puh-leaze! How very sad (and insulting).

How can we get those to come forth and do you know who they are? My email is on my profile (I think). You can remain anonymous.

My notes from the "message" tonight are incomplete because it took me so long to get over the shock of "Do not perpetuate the legacy of a preacher". I took this to be a slam on Dr. Rogers and LWF and am still reeling. My other notes:
Unity is the goal of all christians.
Spirt filled people don't cause disunity [applause]
1 Samuel - rebellion is a sign of witchcraft and devil worshipping.
1 Cor. 2:14 - the natural man does not understand the ordination of someone for the ministry.
The Holy Spirit is attracted to unity - then the "bunch" in verse 13 shows up - mocking, etc.
Then a bit on persuasive witnessing, persuasive preaching and persuasive praying. [I have no history of being taught with the word "persuasive" as pertains to witnessing or praying.]
I am sickened that such has envaded BBC. When did we as a Godly church go so blind?
On my knees . . . .

Piglet said...

Mom4

His last point was "Attacking the Holy Spirit is indicting" based on ICor. 2:14 which says the natural man cannot understand spiritual things.

Of course this is totally unrelated to discerning sin in the pulpit which is just the opposite.

MOM4 said...

Piglet,
Thanks. Like I said, I did not listen to the entire sermon - I just can't stand to...so I guess I missed some of his "better" words of scourging towards us...
Perhaps I will listen to the message in it's entirety one day when I am not so distraught about wickedness in the pulpit -

Questions about the ordination service:

(1) Was there any kind of vote or opening of the floor for input from the congregation?

(2) Was there any mention (even indirectly) of the petition against the ordination?

(3) Was there any sort of report from the ordination council?

(4) Was there any questioning of the candidate or indication of what questions he was asked by the ordination council?

(5) Were the names of the ordination council members revealed?

(6) Did David Coombs speak at the service?

That is definitely a slam against Dr Rogers and LWF. He has shunned Dr Rogers from day one and is still doing it. He is not worthy to lick his boots! And to think that Dr Rogers washed his feet. There is no comparison - they are opposite ends of the Christian spectrum.
That is fact, not worship of man.

ydoesit matter said...

From Lily's notes:

"Spirt filled people don't cause disunity"

If Steve said that and if he consideres us to be the cause of our disunity, then by implication he believes we are lost.

Brother Steve, have no fear. I once was lost but now I am found. Since all Christians have the Holy Spirit, I am so glad to know you understand that I, as a Christian, cannot be the cause of disunity. And yourself?

searchingfortruthatbbc said...

Well, we were there, and it was very difficult. Basically, you cannot be Spirit-filled and cause disunity. Also, the Spirit is drawn to unity (not truth). Didn't Jesus say that He was THE WAY, THE TRUTH, and THE LIFE. Jesus would never want unity instead of the truth - there are plenty of folks who are unified who are not Spirit-filled! As for the service, there was an ordination counsel, but they were not named. They were "both unanimous and enthusiastic" about ordaining DC. They asked for all who were in favor to say "Amen and praise the Lord", but they did NOT ask for dissenters (DUH). The petition was NOT mentioned. It reminds me of the pink elephant in the living room that no one mentions! As for the questions, they questioned him as to his salvation experience and his call into the ministry. DC did speak, saying that he just felt the Lord was calling him to leave his position and come on staff at Bellevue. That's all I can remember - it was so hard to just sit there!!!!

socwork said...

un-buh-leave-a-ble...

(that's my phonetic spelling, just so no one is left out).

I think it's fair to say I'm less shocked that the ordination took place tonight, than at the horrendous twisting and manipulation of God's holy, inspired, and inerrant Word from the pulpit. SG definitely needs our prayers.

MOM4 said...

huntnfortruth,
I am dissappointed that anyone would hack any site and hopefully that is not from anyone here. I actually doubt it could be because most of us are everyday folks and have no clue how to do something that technical - let alone that wicked.
Folks, do not even go there. It is ugly and something I wish I had not seen.
As bad as I dislike Steve Tucker and Harry Smith, I hope they get it cleanned up quickly.

socwork said...

NOTE:

You also can't be Spirit-filled and hide and cover blatant SIN!

Come on!

ydoesit matter said...

Apparently Steve would say PW is not spirit-filled because he certainly caused disunity. Phil Weatherwax, well he caused his share of disunity earlier this year. Brother Doyal Long caused disunity and then straightened it out. Maybe he was spirit-filled after mistreating Sister Pam.

Our church has not been the same since four men hopped that itty-bitty fence. Talk about causing disunity. According to Brother Steve those men are not spirit-filled. Oops!

What about a man who goes to another church and makes fun of his congregation? For many that was the turning point. Few more divisive actions have taken place.

Steve indicts himself

1) Nope. They did ask for the voice of all approved, but no room for any who did not approve.

2) Nope. Unless you count the whole sermon about dissenters who are lost or immature christians and how you should ignore them. Of course they ignored us all before, too, so what's changed?

3) Somewhat. Various praises and affirmations of Coombs.

4) I think they covered that....(?)

5) Anybody remember the names? Phil Weatherwax, Joe Jernigan (oh, Joe, and I so like you), Doyal Long, Sonny Tucker, Jamie Fish, can't remember who else, did the laying on of hands. Who am I forgetting, somebody?

6) He spoke before the sermon (missed some of it) and after the ordination.

I knew a man who made a deal with his wife. He agreed not to purchase any more guns without getting rid of guns. He was free to buy all the new ones he wanted as long as the total number remained static. Maybe the church would agree to a deal like that. We'll give them David Coombs if they give us Steve Tucker or Mark Dougharty.

I am grieved that someone hacked into Steve Tucker's web-site. I can hardly check my e-mail - good grief, it took me several days to figure out how to blog! I can't even cut and paste, to the dismay of my children! I pray that those of us who are standing for truth and integrity mean what we say. Hopefully, it has nothing whatsoever to do with this situation.

Just a quick note and then I have to run a couple of errands.

I hand delivered the petition body and the total count of 387 that were valid signaures at 4:30 this afternoon. I had to hunt around a little bit to find someone to give them to in the church offices but did give them to someone who promised that they would be delivered.

As for the sermon "When the Spirit Comes"

The root cause for disunity is the absence of the Holy Spirit, because in the absence of the Holy Spirit there is darkness. Let the Holy Spirit light your paths by the Word of God.

I John 1:6
If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

Ephesians 5:8-9
8 For ye were sometime darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light;
9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

Proverbs 12:17
He that speaketh truth showeth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.

Proverbs 14:22
Do they not err that devise evil? But mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.

John 3:20-21
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Galatians 4:16
16 Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?

Paul obviously had created some strife according to the last verse and simply because he spoke the truth.

upside down said...

Folks,

I am disappointed that some of your choose to disrupt Steve Tucker's website. That is wrong, wrong, wrong.

Actually, I doubt that was any of you but I just wanted to see how it felt to be like you. I mean to make false or untrue charges without knowing the true facts. Plus it took a level of computer skills with doesn't seem to fit many that post on this board.

I am sure the Words of God spoken tonight had little meaning to many of you on the board in that most don't see themselves in what was revealed tonight. I couldn't help but think of the dangers mom4 faces as she speaks from the flesh in writing about the darkness at Bellevue. Guys, there is no way a person who is Spirit filled could, even if he feels there is problems, write and discuss our church in the manner that is happening on this board. There is a more appropriate way to discuss concerns and it is evident to the most casual reader that most on this board is of man.

Oh, I know that you will attack my words but that is ok. I felt justified on coming on this board because I thought there were individuals truly seeking the truth. But I now realize that what remains on this board is fleshly folks filled with bitterness and hate. There can be no room for the Spirit to reside when you've filled yourselves of yourselves rather than the Holy Spirit. Rather than taking the time to attack my words I only ask that you look inward and ask yourself, "is what I am doing of the Holy Spirit?" The Bible is Truth and this that you are doing is told to us in the Bible to be wrong. My prayers are for you to empty yourselves of your pride so that you may be filled with the Holy Spirit.

MOM4 said...

JMO,
Why do you bother with us "fleshly" and "unspiritual beings"?

Sir, when the Lord moves at BBC, you will be surprised at who will fall.

Enough said...to you anyway.

Lindon said...

Hello Friends, Truth is so important. The truth of the Word is crucial. Some will not like what I am going to say but I am led to say it: I am sorry for Steve Gaines. I am sorry for those sitting under his teaching and believing it. This can only happen because we are not Bereans anymore.

If you go through the outline of the sermon, almost all of it is taken out of context and used to fit his personal premise. This is nothing new, many pastors do it today because they do not fear God.

I know many are angry but we should be weeping because a shepherd is twisting the Word of God for personal gain.

I urge each of you to go through the outline and read each scrpture in context which may mean you have to read the entire book it was taken from. Note the context the scripture is taken from. Prayerfully seek the Holy Spirit's guidance on understanding the context of the scripture. Be a Berean and you cannot be led astray by false teaching.

There is NO unity outside the Word. The Holy Spirit uses the Word to teach us and speaks through the Word. As I have mentioned, John 17 is the foundation for Unity. It comes from the prayer that Jesus prayed for Himself, us the the Apostles. The unity He speaks of in the prayer are based on His teaching which is now the Word.

(How can anyone teach anything on unity without reading John 17?)

And we all know the Word has been ignored in this situation at BBC. If only Gaines understood what it means to 'gain the whole world but lose his soul. James was very serious when he said not all should be teachers of the Word.

We should fear for this man and those who follow him. We should weep and mourn for them. Jesus could come back tonight.

Lynn said...

I am reading some of these posts and well...for the first time in a while, I'm freaking speechless!

What kind of fool does Steve Gaines think we are? If anything, I would say Gaines is NOT spirit filled if he's saying that garbage to the congregation. He has to go. No Ifs, ands or buts about it.

Byebelle said...

Well, JMO...Looks like you've just about covered this entire blog with enough self-righousness to last for quite a while. Thanks for sharing with all of us. That's what you received from the WORD tonight. Great job.

Lindon said...

Acts 20:28-30

Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood. I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them.

socwork said...

You are right, lindon, well said.

God takes His word and His people very seriously.

As I said, SG absolutely needs our prayers. This is terrible.

socwork said...

Thanks for posting that passage from Acts 20 - God has warned us about this. Are we listening to Him?

MOM4 said...

koragg,
Watch your speech:) Pleeze..

And I agree, with you and Lindon. The scriptures were totally out of context and premeditated in their intent. Jesus could very well come tonight and even though there will be those of Steve Gaines' supporters in the heavenly wave, some will not. Steve Gaines could very well be responsible for much more than we could even imagine.

MOM4 said...

lindon,
The passage you quoted from Acts 20 sounds just like something Dr Rogers would have said. He was keenly aware of what the Christian would face without protection, the same thing we are facing now.

He was a different man, one who saw us thru Jesus' eyes.

Thank you for bringing such appropriate words to us.

Lindon said...

Mom4, I get the feeling, Dr. R would be the first one to tell you to check everthing he taught by going to scripture in context. And, not to follow men but Christ and His Word.

Am I right?

MOM4 said...

lindon,
On more than one occassion, Dr Rogers told us to NEVER go by what any man said, including him.

Always verify it in and by the Word.

It has never failed me.

searchingfortruthatbbc said...

jmo states that there are more appropriate ways to discuss these matters. Praytell, what are they in light of what we have already experienced from leadership?!?! They will not allow a meeting, many people have asked deacons questions (like we were told to do), and the deacons either don't know, or even worse, refuse to discuss anything. Help me out here!

The Spirit is the author and creator of unity, not drawn to it. The Spirit moves as He pleases...He is sovereign..He draws men and women, He is not drawn to them. I find it a dangerous statement to assume anyone who disagrees with the direction of the church is lost, or is not Spirit-filled. Unity is no guarantee of the Spirit's work or presence...there's a false unity which God is not the author of. Unity is not sameness...unity of a majority does not necessarily mean unity in the Spirit. Be discerning beloved.
