Do you kno...John 20 talks about Thomas the doubter. Do you know what the difference is between being a doubter and a skeptic? Doubt is a resting place, skepticism is a permanent place. I preached at a nursing home for a year before I became a pastor. There are two kinds of people in the nursing home, sweet and skeptical. The sweet people lived a quiet life ( 1 Thess 4:11), loved the Lord and never said an unkind word about anyone, no matter how bad they have been mistreated.

The skeptical people lived lives of constant doubt about everyone and everything. We should all consider others as being more knowledgeable than ourselves (Phil 2:3)

The way a person retires at skepticism is focusing on their doubts too long. Eventually a doubter has to become like James and become a doer.

BBC is not going to have a monthly business meeting for 7000 people, close that doubt. If you try to corner him during church, you are going to affect his ability to deliver the message, which would not be of any benefit to anyone.

It sounds like they have these open door meetings on Sunday morning, but no one cares to attend them. Think about it...what message does tell the rest of the congregation about your efforts and concerns?

If only one person shows up, of course they are going to look like a rebellious person. It appears most people on this blog do not have positions of leadership or authority in their everyday lives so they want to take it out on the church.

Splitting hairs over a dinner meal, give me a break. Was it $39 or $49, who cares! A pastor is not perfect and obviously the some people that post to this blog has never led one single thing in their life, otherwise they would have more empathy for a leader that makes mistakes. Make no bones about it, if a person leads, there will always be those who will not agree. This why there is a leader, someone to lead the charge when there is confusion, and no one knows what direction to take.

A church this size can not be ran by consensus, a member either needs to see what the church is passionate about, and if that churches passion does not line up with theirs they need to find a church who shares their passion.

Some posters of this blog appear to be some overly concerned religious people, using the bible as their sword of choice, yet if they are such tremendous communicators of Gods truth, how come they are not in a teaching capacity and sharing this wonderful insight to a lost and dying world. People outside the church are clawing their way through darkness, trying to make sense of this thing called life.

Honestly, when someone posts a long post filled with scripture, I guarantee 99% of you scroll right past it because there is no dirt to chew on.

Ever heard the expression, can’t see the forest through the trees? It is human nature when we get too close to something we lose focus of the big picture, and our life gets distorted beyond the point of focusing on what is truly important.

If the church is ran by people with character flaws (which I am not saying it is or not) it will eventually blow up and become so easily recognizable for even the most marginal Christian will recognize the flaws. Just like Gamaliel’s advice in Act 5 38-39, if this church is ran by carnal men, nothing great will come of it, and it will become nothing. However, if it is of God, no blog or anyone else can overthrow it.

Get outside and enjoy life, be a blessing to others, share the love of Christ, serve the creator and master of the universe, He died for us, lets go tell the world about this great gift, who knows He might come back tonight.

Let me leave you with this advice, don’t stay in the doubt truck stop very long, the food will get you to the nursing home of skepticism faster than you care to get there.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36564514.post-1164167710286736972006-11-21T21:55:00.000-06:002006-11-21T21:55:00.000-06:00dge wrote:"Do you not vote in your committees? As f...dge wrote:

"Do you not vote in your committees?

As far as I know, since we haven't had a business meeting in nearly 18 months, no.

Are they all hand picked by your pastor???"

Yes, along with a small inner circle of men.

So do you see the problem here?

"I heard the one lady saying about "HOW DO WE OUST HIM"

I didn't see that, but that's not what we're about here. I am truly shocked at what you all are doing...Wow! I am truly shocked at what you all are doing. After reading what you all have written, I see that not one person has personally gone to Steve Gaines and talked to him personally. He is not George Bush, it is not like he has secret service keeping you back. I truly believe that you guys love this and feed off of each other. I believe as a born again christian that MY GOD is bigger than all of this and if I truly believed as you all do, that my time would be well better spent on my knees asking God to make changes where needed. My Bible says Judge not lest ye be judged. I do believe that a pastor is held to a higher standard, but listening to you all one would believe him to be Stalin. He is a man of God and you all are truly hurting your "beloved" and I say that with a sincere heart church but carrying on the way you do. One would question your testimonies when your critical views are voiced. Do you not vote in your committees? Are they all hand picked by your pastor??? You all talk about the changes that are being made. I laugh to myself when you all talk about the music minister. I have no clue what took place with Dr. Whitmire/Jamie Parker, but Dr. Whitmire was a fabulous music director and I am sure that God has blessed him over and over again. Your church music has not changed in the sense that it is wrong it is just a different approach and I can honestly say that it is as spirit filled as with Dr. Whitmire leading it and his music was amazing. I watched as it changed and could see that they carefully did not do anything drastically. Instead of criticizing changes you should embrace them and see what God can deliver in your own life. You all are truly blessed with a wonderful church and your services are definitely God Filled. You need to be careful what you say and do regarding the Man of God who is filling your pulpit right now. You have no clear answer as to if your facts are correct and you need to heed what God's word says about things done or said against God's Chosen. You do not have the super natural ability to see into his heart and tell if he is wrong or not. I am just a lurker here. I know that church conflict does arise, but when I heard the one lady saying about "HOW DO WE OUST HIM" are you sure you all are doing things biblically or just "you don't like him" Not everyone is gonna like everyone in the world and it is not like your church is 400 people. Prayers said for all of ya involved and that the Lord works in a wonderful way to restore unity to all you again! HE IS MIGHTY! HE CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN!! When the full truth is available to the congregation and placed in the Light of the Word, there will be no problem with the Lord opening the exit door.
Mr. Gaines steam rolled his previous congregations and they let him because they felt he was a good preacher, and that he is, but so is Joel Osteen- look at the offerings and attendance he has and his church is adding members with each service-even baptisms have increased. But Bellevue Christians have been taught a better way by the men who walked before him (SG). They were taught to be keen and wise (well, most are anyway) and to walk in the way of the Truth and send forth the Light. There is no way, aside from full repentance and full apologies, that Steve Gaines will be allowed to stay. To scatter the flock and not only fail to minister to God's sheep, but send his henchmen out to destroy them will not continue!
The reason I know this is because of scripture. The Lord will not allow his sheep to be scattered, slaughtered or destroyed - not even their reputations!
I would be fearful of the wrath of the Lord if I were him.
As far as the other men involved, they will depart in shame when the truth about them is brought before the congregation and the world.
My faith comes from a promise in Jeremiah 23.
Attempting to bait the folks on this web site may be good entertainment for you, but the more you post, the more we recognize.
Good day gentlemen.MOM4https://www.blogger.com/profile/05135604848649554169noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36564514.post-1164045331995747282006-11-20T11:55:00.000-06:002006-11-20T11:55:00.000-06:00Karen posted: The Ruth's Chris dinner is resolved...Karen posted: The Ruth's Chris dinner is resolved (although it was pretty cheap per person considering the prices at that particular restaurant). I haven't heard it batted around this much since the last Democrat press conference I watched.

Guys, strong disagreements, strong words, and even occasional anger do not necessarily rise to the level of hate. I dislike some very strongly, but I do not wish them ill--only justice. I think not many here would wish anyone there anything but justice.

And for those of you on the other side who post here, I honestly don't think any here hate you. We get into strong disagreements and sometimes say things we shouldn't but does that happen more often with those we love or those we hate--I daresay the former?

Both sides, before you bandy about a term like "hate" think about it. "
---------------------------------

It's interesting that you post this. I've asked you to call me and talk to me on the phone and you refuse. Why will you not call me? I repeat that I believe we are friends.

Tonight, I received a phone call from a friend (teacher) that attended the meeting. He too, said it was a pep-rally. I wanted to address two examples of my name being brought up that offended him and now me since they are not true. All I've ever wanted is to address issues that were brought to me by staff members. For doing so, I've been slandered, called many names, and made out to be a troublemaker. I guess if you don't like the message here at Bellevue then you "kill the messenger". The truth is the truth whether you want to believe it or not. It's not hard to find the truth if anyone wants to find it.

Tonight, the first incident occurred when Mike Pruett, MD stood up and asked why Matthew 18 was not going to be used on Mark Sharpe for his sins against the church. Dr. Mike Pruett has been my physician in the past and we know each other very well. I believe Mike Pruett to be my friend. Dr. Mike Pruett has not taken the time to pick up the phone and call me one time since I've had issues. He has no idea what I've been told by trusted staff members. Mike, if you read this or hear of it, please call me. I would like to speak with you and ask you to give me one thing that I have said or done that is not the truth instead of condemning me before the Ad Hoc Committee.

The other item my Sunday School Teacher friend told me was when a Dwayne Hartsoe stood and asked Chuck Taylor to address Steve Gaines and Mark Dougharty appologizing several weeks ago but not asking forgiveness. Chuck's response was "Mark is splitting hairs".
I don't know Dwayne Hartsoe but I believe him to be a Godly man who is broken over what is going on. I have never spoken with Dwayne until yesterday when he called me. I didn't call him because I don't know him. He had heard that the applogies had been given and he wanted to verify it with the source.

He asked me if the Pastor went a step further and asked for forgiveness. I told Dwayne the thought had not crossed my mind but from my recollection, they said they were sorry for what they had done and wanted me to accept their appologies. That's exactly what I told Dwayne I had done.

For you Chuck to say "Mark is splitting hairs" is a statement I wish you would rescend. These are not my words. I've not thought one moment about the apology from Steve Gaines and Mark Dougharty two weeks ago. I accepted it and it's over. In fact, I forgave them three months earlier when they did it.

Still waiting for your phone call.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36564514.post-1163997586656526282006-11-19T22:39:00.000-06:002006-11-19T22:39:00.000-06:00what a great time of worship at Bellevue today. WOW. you are FAR from a Beacon. you can get on here and join the rumors, slander, hate, libel, venom if you would like. that is your choice. if you truly are a Deacon, that is very very sad. you can try and justify the rumors and slander and venom on this blog until you are blue in the face but you cannot do it using scripture. like so many others, you have allowed yourself to be sucked in and deceived. are you one of the many Deacons that have "issues" and "concerns" but refuse to stand and make them be known? and I am not talking about on a blog.

you can attack me all dau long like many. as I have said many times, I will never stoop to that level. we are in control of our actions.

just another note to everyone. Bellevue, the service, the music, the buildings, the classes etc etc etc are NOT about you. They are to be about Christ and Christ alone. and don't everyone post they know that. by everything I have read, you do not understand or agree with that.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36564514.post-1163996461587947652006-11-19T22:21:00.000-06:002006-11-19T22:21:00.000-06:00barrister,I emailed earlier, when you asked me to ...barrister,

I emailed earlier, when you asked me to but I left out the period before .com. I don't know the specific reasons, but based on deaconwithabeacon's post, I don't think they could show 100% unity with the number of deacons that are not supporting SG.

Just an FYI so you know you didn't miss anything.

KarenKarenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11805543641376648431noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36564514.post-1163992133438029462006-11-19T21:08:00.000-06:002006-11-19T21:08:00.000-06:00I posted this under the wrong thread earlier. Sorry guys:

Just to make a small observation:

We are now to the point in this struggle that the execution of innocent unborn children may be defended using the coin of Bellevue Baptist Church--former flagship of the SBC.

For any who would deny that a transformation has taken place, this ought to convince you.

The appeal that the $25k was given out of ignorance is unacceptable. It wouldn't have been done out of ignorance two years ago. Something has changed. And we all know what that something is: Dr Rogers is no longer here to keep things in check.

One more time folks: Baby killers can be defended with the tithes and offerings you entrusted to the administration.

Let that sink in . . .Custoshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11684484144662597420noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36564514.post-1163985729196753212006-11-19T19:22:00.000-06:002006-11-19T19:22:00.000-06:00"DeaconWhoisaBeacon" said: "I think the world of y..."DeaconWhoisaBeacon" said: "I think the world of you my brother"

If this is in fact true, please give me a call or drop me an e.mail.

My e.mail is dcalcote@msn.com.

You can get my phone number from the deacon directory, or by calling information.Whohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04922144090721501301noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36564514.post-1163982145257765552006-11-19T18:22:00.000-06:002006-11-19T18:22:00.000-06:00All of grace suggested Ephesians 6:10-18 be read a...All of grace suggested Ephesians 6:10-18 be read and I agree so I'm posting it from The Message version:

10-12 And that about wraps it up. God is strong, and he wants you strong. So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the Devil throws your way. This is no afternoon athletic contest that we'll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels.

13-19 Be prepared. You're up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it's all over but the shouting you'll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You'll need them throughout your life. God's Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other's spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.Karenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11805543641376648431noreply@blogger.com
